Captain Brian S. Newcomer was hired as a full-time patrolman by the Town of Newington in December 1986. Cpt. Newcomer is a graduate of the 54th Session of the Police Academy conducted by the New Hampshire Police Standards & Training Council. He was promoted to Corporal in 1988 and then to Sergeant in 1989. In 1999 Cpt. Newcomer was promoted to Lieutenant and Patrol Bureau Commander. In April of 2005 he was promoted to Captain. Cpt. Newcomer is a 1989 graduate of the NEILEM Command Training Program. Lieutenant Gregory S. Qualls was hired as a full-time patrolman by the Town of Newington in June 1988. Lt. Qualls is a graduate of the 78th Session of the Police Academy conducted by the New Hampshire Police Standards &Training Council. Scott serves as the department's detective and a member of the Seacoast Emergency Response Team (SERT Team). Scott was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2002 and then to Lieutenant in April 2006. Sergeant Timothy S. Stuart was hired as a full-time patrolman by the Town of Newington in September 1989. Sgt. Stuart is a graduate of the 82nd Session of the Police Academy conducted by the New Hampshire Police Standards & Training Council. Sgt. Stuart has served as the department's firearms instructor, oleoresin capsicum instructor, and FTO Officer. Sgt. Master Patrolman Jon R Garvin was hired as a full-time patrolman by the Town of Newington in July 1987. Ptlm. Garvin is a graduate of the 78th Session of the Police Academy conducted by the New Hampshire Police Standards & Training Council. Ptlm. Garvin serves as the department's vehicle maintenance supervisor and is a member of the NH Police Association's Board of Directors. Officer Garvin is a 1995 graduate of the Command Training Program held at the New England Institute at Babson College. Ptlm. Master Patrolman Leonard Kerekes was hired as a full-time patrolman by the Town of Newington in July 1991. Ptlm. Kerekes is a graduate of the 79th Session of the Police Academy conducted by the New Hampshire Police Standards & Training Council. Ptlm. Kerekes serves as the department's Assistant Firearms Instructor and Field Training Officer. In June 2005 Ptlm. Kerekes received the "Looking Beyond the Traffic Ticket" award from the NH Police Standards & Training Council for recognizing and apprehending a bank robber while on a routine traffic stop. Patrolman Seth Appelbaum was hired as a full-time patrolman by the Town of Newington in November 2004. Ptlm Appelbaum attended classes at Three Rivers College in Connecticut, the University of Guam, and the University of Maryland with his goal in education to attain a Bachelors Degree in Business Management and Criminal Justice. Officer Appelbaum is a graduate of the 127th Session of the Police Academy conducted by New Hampshire Police Standards & Training Council. Ptlm. Patrolman Richard W. Stanley was hired as a full-time patrolman by the Town of Newington in April 2005. Ptlm. Stanley is a graduate of the 130th Session of the Police Academy conducted by New Hampshire Police Standards &Training Council. Ptlm Stanley received his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from McIntosh College and has received CPR and First Aid training from the American Heart Association. Ptlm. Patrolman Tony A. Harland was hired as a full-time patrolman by the Town of Newington in July 2005. Patrolman Harland is a graduate of the 139th Session of the Police Academy conducted by the New Hampshire Police Standards & Training Council and has attended a Liberal Arts course at the University of New Hampshire. Prior to coming the Newington, Officer Harland served as a corrections officer for the Strafford County Sheriff's Department. Patrolman Tony Harland
Officer Matthew Travaglini was hired as a full-time patrolman by the Town of Newington in May 2008. Patrolman Travaglini is a graduate of the 136th Session of the Police Academy conducted by the New Hampshire Police Standards & Training Council. Officer Travaglini attended the Maine Criminal Justice Academy and received a BA in Psychology and Justice Studies from the University of New Hampshire, Durham, N.H.
