POLICE COMMISSIONER DOUGLAS A. ROSS

Doug Ross, his wife Angie and daughter Jennifer moved to Newington in 1992. A graduate of Lafayette College (B. A. Economics), Doug retired from the Drug Enforcement Administration in October 1998. During his 28 years with the DEA, Doug was assigned to Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington DC and had investigative assignments which resulted in extensive domestic travel and international travel to Mexico, Peru, Australia, Thailand and Miyamar (Burma). His last position was that of Assistant Special Agent in Charge, New England Division. In that capacity he was responsible for enforcement operations in New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, a multi-agency Task Force in Lowell, Massachusetts, an Outlaw Motorcycle Gang Task Force, the Division Intelligence Unit and the Administrative Services Unit. In 1998, Doug received the President's Award for his work on Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs.

In prior assignments with the DEA, Doug investigated shooting incidents, both domestically and internationally, which involved DEA agents and served as the Chairman of the Board of Professional Conduct in DEA Headquarters. He also served as a Firearms Officer and EEO Officer. Prior to joining the DEA, Doug had two years experience as a part time police officer in Hampton and Durham, N.H.  Doug has served on the Newington Budget Committee and is a New Hampshire Fish and Game Commissioner, representing Rockingham County. At present Doug is a member of the New Hampshire Congressional Law Enforcement Awards Committee. Doug has been serving as Police Commissioner from 1998 to present.

POLICE COMMISSIONER F. JACKSON HOYT

Commissioner Hoyt has served two separate terms with the Newington Police Commission.  He was first elected to the Commission in 1991 where he served for a three year term, leaving in 1994.  Commissioner Hoyt then returned to the Commission in 2002 and we appreciate his willingness to serve once again on the Commission.  Commissioner Hoyt and his wife Meredith are long-time residents of the Town of Newington and he is employed full-time at the Newington Waste Water Treatment Plant.

    POLICE COMMISSIONER PAUL KENT

    Mr. Paul Kent was elected to the Newington Police Commission on March 14, 2006.  Mr. Kent was raised in Portsmouth, N.H., and has lived in Newington, N.H. for 46 years.  Mr. Kent is a veteran of the U.S. Army and the father of three daughters.  Mr. Kent was employed as a printer for 48 years and, of those 48 years, he was employed 33 years at the Portsmouth Herald, retiring as Composing Foreman in 1992.  Mr. Kent served on the Board of Selectmen for Newington, N.H., for 24 years. He has also served on various other town government boards such as the Newington School Board, the Planning Board, Budget Committee, Board of Adjustment and the Cemetery Committee.  We welcome his expertise and thank him for his willingness to be a police commissioner.
